Art by Ess is art by me. I´m a mother of three, living on the country side in the southwestern part of Sweden. Drawing has always been my passion. Portraits, people and pretty girls with graphite and ink pens has been my signature mark. I´ve studied art and design through senior high school and university. I´m a graduated illustrator and art teacher, and the later is my main profession since 2011. However, I started my little art business in 2007, and I´ve mostly done illustration assignments in various amount.

The journey to where I creatively stand today slowly began in 2017. After some years with little or no inspiration for drawing at all, part from custom orders every now and then, a person in a Swedish babywearing group on Facebook asked if there was anyone in Sweden who custom paints baby carriers. I´ve painted and printed on clothes and fabrics quite a lot in the past, so I immediately thought that this would suit me really well. I painted one of my own carriers with a simple flower motif, posted the result on Facebook and the response was massive. The work was very inspiring for me and I felt right away that I had to do more of it! I continued with custom painting baby carriers since then, parallel to art teaching,

In February 2018, my life and my creativity took a new turn. My master, my idol, my biggest supporter - my grandfather - passed away. Three months later my third child was born and during the maternity leave I finally got time to go through the mourning process. Hardly surprising, it expressed itself through drawing and painting - the passion I shared with my beloved grandfather. “Promise me you´ll never stop” he said when I was in my teens and showed him something new I´ve made.

For me, Art by Ess is in many ways an homage to him. If he was still here, he would have loved to see this page and shop come to live, at last. The artistry is mine and mine alone, but it´s also a herritage from my grandfather and that has to be kept alive.
